Young HIV patients have increased heart disease risk

Young HIV patients have an increased risk of heart disease, which may be caused in part by antiretroviral medications.

"It is currently unknown whether there is an increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) in patients with HIV infection," scientists in the United States explained. "In addition, the contribution of antiretroviral therapy (ART) to CHD risk has not been quantified."
