Recommendations for preventing the spread of HIV by HIV-infected individuals have been released in a recent issue of Clinical Infectious Diseases.

According to recent research from the United States, "The estimated number of annual new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections in the United States has remained at 40,000 for >10 years. Reducing the rate of transmission will require new strategies, including emphasis on prevention of transmission by HIV-infected persons.
