Metabolic growth hormone regulation characterized

The metabolic regulation of GH has been characterized in patients suffering from HIV-related lipodystrophy.

"Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-lipodystrophy is a syndrome characterized by changes in fat distribution and insulin resistance," endocrinologists in the United States explained. "Prior studies suggest markedly reduced growth hormone (GH) levels in association with excess visceral adiposity among patients with HIV-lipodystrophy."
