Australian company to lead NIH-funded project to prevent HIV, other STDs

Melbourne-based nanotechnology company Starpharma (SPL) will lead a consortium to develop a second generation microbicide for the prevention of infection by HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

This consortium is being funded by a U.S. $5.4 million (A $7.5 million) grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).
