Nonprofit research institute opens learning lab for high school students

Seattle Biomedical Research Institute (SBRI) celebrated the opening of its BioQuest Learning Lab.

The lab is the only research lab of its type in the Puget Sound region that can accommodate a full high school class of 32 students.

SBRI's BioQuest science education program, started in 2000, is designed to engage local high school students in scientific learning through experience. In March, SBRI moved into a research facility in Seattle. SBRI used the move as an opportunity to expand its BioQuest program by building a working lab and science gallery, which was funded by $415,000 in donations from the local community.
