Study 1: Liver enzyme flares require scrutiny in HIV-HCV coinfected patients beginning therapy.
According to a study from the United States, "highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) initiation in patients coinfected with HIV type 1 (HIV-1) and HCV has been associated with transaminase and HCV viral load flares. Previous studies have included highly variable antiretroviral regimens."
