Hepatic Steatosis

Hepatic steatosis is associated with a hepatitis C virus genotype in HIV-seropositive patients

According to recent research from the United States published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, hepatic steatosis is associated with fibrosis, nucleoside analogue use, and hepatitis C virus genotype 3 infection in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-seropositive patients.

"We conducted a study to determine the prevalence and factors associated with hepatic steatosis in HIV-seropositive patients with hepatitis C and to investigate whether steatosis is associated with liver fibrosis," wrote B.H. McGovern and colleagues, Lemuel Shattuck Hospital.
