In this recently published study, investigators in the United States conducted a study "To compare inpatient utilization and costs by persons living with HIV in 2000 with inpatient utilization and costs in 2004. Data on 91,343 hospital discharge abstracts representing all HIV-related admissions in 6 states (California, Florida, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, and Washington state) in 2000 and data from 72,829 hospital discharge abstracts representing all HIV-related admissions in the same states in 2004 are used.
