New investigation results, 'Mechanism of HIV protein induced modulation of mesenchymal stem cell osteogenic differentiation,' are detailed in a study published in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders. "A high incidence of decreased bone mineral density (BMD) has been associated with HIV infection. Normal skeletal homeostasis is controlled, at least in part, by the maturation and activity of mature osteoblasts," researchers in Dublin, Ireland report.
