"Viral infection is a common cause of acute myocardial and pericardial disease; most of these patients are infected with enterovirus and are asymptomatic. Cardiac involvement in CMV infection is rare, with CMV-related pericarditis being reported mainly in patients who were immunocompromised as a result of autoimmune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) or organ transplantation," wrote C.T.
