Investigators at Chinese University of Hong Kong target HIV/AIDS

2010 NOV 29 -- "From the seeds of Acacia confusa, a chitinase-like antifungal protein designated as acaconin that demonstrated antifungal activity toward Rhizoctonia solani with an IC50 of 30 +/- 4 mc M was isolated. Acaconin demonstrated an N-terminal sequence with pronounced similarity to chitinases and a molecular mass of 32 kDa," investigators in Hong Kong, People's Republic of China report.
