CNS genes involved in response to scrapie agents identified in mice

Central nervous system genes involved in the host response to scrapie agents have been identified in a murine model. In a recent study from Canada, "cDNA microarrays were used to examine gene-expression profiles at early, middle (preclinical) and late (clinical) time points" after inoculation of mice with adapted scrapie agents. "A number of genes that showed significant changes in expression during the clinical stage of disease were identified," reported S. Booth and coauthors at Health Canada in Winnipeg.
