PCL sparing significantly improves functional outcome of TKA

The presence or absence of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) significantly affects the functional outcome of knee replacement surgery. In a recent study, scientists in Houston tested "the hypothesis that patients receiving a" PCL-retaining "prosthesis have no difference in functional outcome compared to those receiving a cruciate-sacrificing, posterior-stabilized (PS) design."
