Increased IgE-antibodies to S. aureus enterotoxins studied in COPD patients

Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxins (SAEs) may play a disease modifying role in patients with COPD.

According to a study from Germany, "Recent evidence suggests that Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxins (SAEs) could modify airway disease by acting as superantigens, an immune response that can be monitored by detection of IgE antibodies to SAEs."
