Ischemia Modified Albumin test to be reimbursed by Medicare

Ischemia Technologies, Inc., announced that its in vitro diagnostic test for cardiac ischemia, Ischemia Modified Albumin (IMA), will be reimbursed by Medicare beginning January 1, 2005, at $47.43 per test.

This amount is the national fee limit (state and local rates may vary slightly), and exceeds the average cost per test paid by laboratories.

A new Common Procedural Terminology code for IMA (82045: albumin, ischemia modified) has also been established, and will be used beginning January 1, 2005, to report and bill for IMA testing.
