Biopharma company issued patent for PCA technology

Odyssey Thera, Inc., announced the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 6,828,099 entitled "Protein-fragment complementation assays (PCA) for the detection of protein-protein, protein-small molecule and protein-nucleic acid interactions based on the E. Coli TEM- 1 beta-lactamase."

PCA involves the engineering of probes of molecular interactions, with widespread applications for drug discovery and pharmacological profiling in living cells. Professor Stephen W. Michnick, of the University of Montreal, invented PCA and has applied the technology to a wide range of reporters for high-throughput and high-content applications.
