FDA grants clearance for Triage D-Dimer Test

Biosite Incorporated (BSTE), a research-based provider of novel, rapid medical diagnostics, announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted the company clearance to market the Triage D-Dimer Test.

The diagnostic test is intended to be used as an aid in the assessment and evaluation of patients suspected of having thromboembolic events, including pulmonary embolism. Pulmonary embolism, or PE, is a blockage of one or more of the pulmonary arteries by blood clot, which is a common and highly lethal condition that is a leading cause of death in all age groups.
