Clinical trials often conducted overseas to accelerate drug development

Pharmaceutical companies are conducting more clinical trials overseas where it is easier to find patient volunteers and costs are as much as 50-60% lower than trials run in the U.S.

According to a recent report, "Accelerating Clinical Trials: Budgets, Patient Recruitment and Productivity," published by pharmaceutical business intelligence firm Cutting Edge Information, drug companies are ramping up trials in India, China, Brazil, and Eastern Europe.
