Gastrointestinal therapies developer files shelf registration statement

Santarus, Inc. (SNTS), a company focused on therapies for gastrointestinal diseases and disorders, announced it has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) a shelf registration statement on form S-3 which, when declared effective, will permit Santarus, from time to time, to offer and sell up to $75 million of debt or equity securities. The company believes a shelf registration, which has become a common financing tool in the healthcare industry, will give it greater flexibility as it finances its business in the future.
