First robotically assisted TMR procedure successfully completed

Cardiogenesis Corporation (CGCP:OB), a developer of surgical products and accessories used in angina-relieving procedures, announced the completion of the first robotically assisted completely endoscopic transmyocardial revascularization (TMR) Plus procedure.

Louis A. Brunsting, III, MD, successfully performed the procedure at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The patient, a 58-year-old male suffering from intractable angina pectoris, had undergone two coronary artery bypass procedures in the last 5 years. While still in severe distress from his condition, he was no longer a candidate for further bypass surgery or stent placement.
