Alzheimer research scientists call for national effort to conquer the disease

Americans are not recognizing Alzheimer disease as the health crisis that it is, said scientists at the 20th Anniversary MetLife Foundation Awards for Medical Research in Alzheimer's Disease.

During a panel discussion on the state of Alzheimer research, scientists agreed that early detection will be a key to treating Alzheimer. The scientists also stressed the critical role that lifestyle changes play and the need to attract more young people to the biomedical research field. The panel discussion was moderated by Robert Butler, president and CEO, International Longevity Center.
