Ionian moves forward in development of an advanced rapid biothreat detection system

Ionian Technologies, a 5-year-old small business in Upland, California, has partnered with Northrop Grumman Corp. to develop a portable advanced biothreat security system. Ionian contributes its proprietary nucleic acid assay systems for the development of a handheld isothermal silver standard sensor (HISSS), a system to be used for identifying biothreat agents, such as bacteria and viruses. Ionian is now completing phase III of a four-phase program, to build and test a prototype system. Phase I involved biochemical test development and laboratory proof-of-concept, while phase II demonstrated functionality in a fluidic test bed. ...
