Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll Dies After Battle With Cancer

Catherine Baker Knoll, nearing the end of her sixth year as Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania, died Wednesday after a four-month illness involving both cancer and a lingering infection.

Her death came unexpectedly while undergoing physical therapy at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C.. She had gone there following several weeks of treatment and observation related to cancer that was detected this past summer. She was treated at Hershey Medical Center and more recently, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

She fought this illness with the same tenacity she brought to a lifetime of public service," said her son, Albert Baker...
