Image-based and non-image-based navigation systems compared

Image-based and non-image-based navigation systems for knee replacement surgery have been compared, and found to produce similar results.

"Restoration of the mechanical limb axis and accurate component orientation are two major factors affecting the long-term results after total knee replacement (TKR)," orthopedic surgeons in Germany noted. "Different navigation systems are available to improve the outcome."
