Phase I/II clinical trial initiated for product to treat patients with oral mucositis

Camurus has initiated a phase I/IIa clinical study to evaluate safety, tolerability and preliminary efficacy of CAM2028, an oromucosal formulation of an agent being used for topical treatment of pain in cancer patients with oral mucositis (OM). Mucositis is an inflammation and ulceration of the lining of the mouth, throat or gastrointestinal tract most commonly associated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy for cancer. OM is the most commonly experienced manifestation occurring in around 40% of cancer patients. It is a severe side effect that can limit the patient's ability to tolerate cancer therapy.
