Data from Brazil, Sweden and Italy advance knowledge in hepatitis C virus research

Hepatitis c virus data are the focus of recent research from Brazil, Sweden and Italy.

Study 1: Research from Brazil has reported that iron overload does not affect hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype and response to interferon and ribavirin therapy.

"The objective of the present study was to determine the presence of hepatic iron overload in patients with chronic HCV infection and to correlate it with histologic alterations, HCV genotype and response to therapy," wrote R.M. Souza and colleagues, Universidade Federal da Bahia.
