Recent studies from Italy and the United States add new data to obesity research

Investigators in Italy and the United States have published new obesity data. Study 1: A higher common carotid artery stiffness and higher C-reactive protein plasma levels were found in obese children with the metabolic syndrome. "Obesity and overweight have been associated with increased carotid intima-media thickness and stiffness in adults and children. Overweight and obesity have also been associated with an increased prevalence of the metabolic syndrome (MS)," scientists writing in the American Journal of Cardiology report. A.
