Researchers from Brazil, Italy and Portugal provide details of new studies and findings in the area of obesity

New findings from Brazil, Italy and Portugal describe advances in obesity.

Study 1: Botulinum A toxin injected into the gastric wall was a safe treatment option for class III obesity.

"Obesity represents a major public health problem in western countries. Initial studies suggest that injection of botulinum A toxin (Btx-A) into the antropyloric region inhibits propulsive contractions of the antral pump, with delay in gastric emptying, early satiety and weight loss," investigators in Brazil report.
