Advanced Viral Research granted U.S. patent for rheumatoid arthritis

Advanced Viral Research Corp. (ADVR) announced that effective June 27, 2006, the company has received U.S. patent approval for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis by administering Product R (AVR118), a peptide-nucleic acid preparation. Rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic inflammatory illness, is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks normal tissue components as if they were invading pathogens.
