Mekalanos named to scientific advisory board

ActivBiotics, Inc., a privately held pharmaceutical company, announced that John J. Mekalanos has joined its scientific advisory board. Mekalanos is the Adele H. Lehman professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Harvard Medical School and a pioneer in the study of bacterial illnesses. The long-term goal of his research is to understand how pathogenic bacteria evade the host immune system and cause disease. In his 22-year career, Mekalanos has served on the FDA Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee, the U.S. Panel for the U.S.-Japan Cooperative Scientific Program on Cholera and Related Diarrhoeal Diseases, and the WHO...
