Phase III trial for meningococcal C vaccine begins

Chiron Corporation (CHIR) announced that it has initiated a phase III trial in the United States for Menjugate, the company's conjugated vaccine for the prevention of meningococcal C disease. The study, which is being conducted in conjunction with the Northern California Kaiser Permanente Vaccines Research Center, will expand the vaccine's safety database for a U.S. population relative to the safety profile of the current U.S.-licensed meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine Menomune (A, C, Y, W-135).
