Alliance to promote rapid test for cardiology marker

Akers Biosciences, Inc., announced that it has signed an agreement forming an alliance with The Medicines Company (MDCO) to increase awareness of and market Akers Biosciences' Rapid Heparin-Platelet Factor-4 antibody (HPF-4) test after it has received regulatory approval. The HPF-4 antibody test, currently in the clinical trial phase of development, is designed to identify patients at risk for developing heparin-induced thrombocytopenia and thrombosis syndrome (HITTS), a severe allergic-like side effect associated with the use of the anticoagulant heparin.
