Cytokine phenotype analysis can aid genetic susceptibility study

Cytokine phenotype analysis can aid the study of genetic risk factors for tuberculosis (TB).

"Numerous studies have provided support for genetic susceptibility" to TB; "however, heterogeneity in disease expression has hampered previous genetic studies," researchers in the United States explained.

C.M. Stein and coauthors at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland performed a study "to investigate possible intermediate phenotypes for TB."
