Interleukin-2 immunotherapy ineffective

by Michael Greer, senior medical writer - Interleukin (IL)-2 immunotherapy is not effective against pulmonary tuberculosis, researchers report.

Endogenous IL-2 "has a central role in regulating T cell responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis," explained John L. Johnson and colleagues at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, and Mulago Hospital and Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
