Medical device company comments on proposed Medicare rate codes

American Medical Systems Holdings, Inc., (AMMD) stated that it was pleased that the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed changes to the 2004 hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) that would bring payments for prosthetic urology procedures more in line with hospital costs.

CMS accepted the APC Advisory Panel's recommendation to create two ambulatory payment classifications for prosthetic urology procedures based on resource intensity and complexity.
