Recent findings in cancer screening provide new insights

Cancer screening research advances have been reported from the United States.

Study 1: A recent study from Columbia University investigated adherence to recommended cancer screenings by Latino subgroups in the U.S.

The researchers wrote, "Using data from the 2000 National Health Interview Survey, 5,377 Latinos were surveyed for their use of Pap smear, mammogram, breast self-examination, and the clinical breast exam (CBE) among women; prostate specific antigen (PSA) test among men; and the fecal occult blood test (FOBT), sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and proctoscopy among both men and women."
