Biotechnology company to offer device to enhance de novo peptide sequencing

Agilent Technologies Inc. (A) announced a new electron transfer dissociation (ETD) module for its top-of-the-line XCT Ultra ion trap LC/MSD. The new module will significantly enhance the results for proteomics researchers doing de novo sequencing and post-translational modification (PTM) analysis. ETD is a new method for performing peptide sequencing that uses a different mechanism to produce MS/MS spectra and has several advantages when compared with traditional Collision Activated Dissociation (CAD). Ions are formed outside of the ion trap, allowing full mass range to be collected and eliminating the 1/3 low-mass cutoff restriction of CAD ion trap analysis....
