Researchers provide details of new studies and findings in the area of proteomics

New findings from the United States, Germany and Norway describe advances in proteomics. Study 1: Targeted aquaporin-1 gene disruption impairs cell migration and angiogenesis. According to a study from the United States, "aquaporin-1 (AQP1) is a water channel protein expressed widely in vascular endothelia, where it increases cell membrane water permeability(1-3). The role of AQP1 in endothelial cell function is unknown. Here we show remarkably impaired tumor growth in AQP1-null mice after subcutaneous or intracranial tumor cell implantation, with reduced tumor vascularity and extensive necrosis."
