Post-term pregnancy incidence may be reduced by membrane sweeping at 41 weeks in low-risk pregnancies. Researchers in The Netherlands conducted a study "to evaluate the effectiveness of membrane sweeping at 41 weeks for the prevention of post-term pregnancy." The study design was "a multicenter randomized controlled trial" of "fifty-one primary care midwifery practices in The Netherlands."
