Safe pharmacologic treatment strategies for osteoarthritis pain in African Americans with hypertension and renal and cardiac disease is reviewed. "Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States. Osteoarthritis, the most common form of arthritis, is a degenerative joint disease affecting both whites and African Americans similarly.
