Kevin H. Oshima, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, Georgia, and colleagues, in conjunction with researchers from Scientific Laboratory Services, Pall Corporation, Glen Cove, New York, stated that they investigated using a membrane filter to remove HIV (an 100- to 120-nm spherical virion) from a fluid-containing serum ("Removal of Human Immunodeficiency Virus by an 0.04 {{micro}}m Membrane Filter," Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes and Human Retrovirology, 1995;8(1):64-65).
