CDC Study Lists On-the-Job HIV Risks

Concerns among healthcare workers about their risks of acquiring HIV infections on the job - through accidental needlesticks and other injuries involving breaks in the skin - prompted a recent U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study.

CDC's Needlestick Surveillance Group, which included D. Cardo, P. Srivastava, C. Ciesielski, R. Marcus, P. McKibben, D. Culver and D. Bell, reported their findings at the 2nd National Conference on Human Retroviruses and Related Infections, held January 29-February 2, 1995, in Washington, D.C.
