Quantitation of Antigens Serves in Evaluating Transfusion Quality

The determination of CD62 protein concentration, along with flow cytometric quantitation of specific activation-dependent antigens, provides a comprehensive, effective way to evaluate the quality of platelet concentrates (PCs) stored for transfusion.

During storage, platelets become activated, and the resulting shortened life span potentially decreases the utility of PCs for transfusion recipients, noted S.G.
