"Detection of High Levels of Nitric Oxide Synthase (NOS) Gene Expression and Reactive Nitrogen Intermediates (RNI) Production In Spleen Cells after Treatment with Artemether in Plasmodium

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 7th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, held March 26-30, 1995, in Vienna, Austria, "The capacity of spleen cells to produce reactive oxygen intermediates (ROI) and reactive nitrogen intermediates (RNI) was investigated in untreated C57B1/6 mice infected with Plasmodium berghei ANKA showing cerebral malaria, and in mice treated at 10% parasitemia with artemether, shortly before onset of the cerebral malaria syndrome.
