Local Red Cross Blood Services Workers Walk Picket Line

The following was released by the American Red Cross, Southeastern Michigan Blood Services Region:

Despite weeks of negotiations, the Southeastern Michigan Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 337 were unable to agree upon new contract terms. As a result, its members have declared a work stoppage. The contract for the 99 Blood Services members of Local 337 expired on June 30, 1995.

Officials at the American Red Cross have stated that despite a work stoppage by some staff members, the Region will and must continue to recruit, collect, process and distribute blood to the 56 hospitals it...
