Contract Announced for Leukonet Filter System

HemaSure Inc., Marlborough, Massachusetts, announced that it has entered into a three year agreement with Blood Centers of America, Inc. (BCA), Warwick, Rhode Island, and its subsidiary Hemerica, Inc.

Any member blood center who elects to become party to the agreement agrees to use exclusively HemaSure's LeukoNet Pre-Storage Leukoreduction Filter System. The LeukoNet Filter, which was cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for marketing on June 28, 1995, is designed for use by blood centers for the pre-storage removal of leukocytes (white blood cells) from transfusion blood.
