Serologic Findings Suggest Ixodes dammini tick Is Common Vector

The Ixodes dammini (I. dammini) tick is a common vector for transmitting Lyme disease as well as human granulocytic ehrlichiosis (HGE).

Presently, little is known about the epidemiology and transmission of the agent of HGE, noted Preeti Pancholi, Mayo Clinic and Foundation, Rochester, Minnesota, and colleagues ("Ixodes dammini as a Potential Vector of Human Granulocytic Ehrlichiosis," the Journal of Infectious Diseases, October 1995;172:1007-1012).
