Bacterial Contamination Problems Need More Attention

Bacterial sepsis currently may be the most frequent infectious condition that is transmitted by blood transfusion, yet nothing is being done about it, a Canadian researcher stated.

Bacterial contamination kills most transfusion patients, indicated Dr. Morris A. Blajchman, Professor of Pathology and Medicine, McMaster University and Medical Director, Blood Services, Canadian Red Cross Society, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
