New virucidal procedures are required for HAV and parvovirus, non-enveloped viruses that are resistant to current inactivation methods. This inability, along with sporadic reports of the possible transmission of such viruses by blood derivatives, has prompted the search for new virucidal procedures, indicated Dr. Bernard Horowitz, Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer, Melville Biologics, Inc., New York, New York.
