"Detection of Albumin mRNA in Blood After Liver Transplantation in Patients with Benign Liver Disease."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 30th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver, held August 20-23, 1995, in Copenhagen, Denmark, "Albumin mRNA is a liver-specific cell marker. It has been suggested that a positive albumin mRNA-PCR in blood in patients with a hepatocellular carcinoma may indicate shedding of liver tumour cells into the circulation. Thus, the test may identify a subgroup of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma that has a high risk of tumour recurrence after liver transplantation [LTx].
